Ravi Tripathi’s New Musical Chapter: Sings ‘Mauli Mauli’ in Film ‘Sant Tukaram’, Debuts as Music Director

Mumbai: Renowned singer Ravi Tripathi, who gained fame for his powerful vocals in the Bollywood film Chandni Chowk to China, has now embarked on a new journey as a music director. In the recently released film Sant Tukaram, he has not only lent his voice but also taken charge of the film’s entire music direction. His devotional song ‘Mauli Mauli’ has been garnering attention even before the film's release.

Ravi Tripathi shared that numerous songs have been composed on Sant Tukaram in the past, making it a significant challenge to create something fresh and impactful. He added, “I have deep faith in Lord Vitthal. Perhaps it was this faith that helped ‘Mauli Mauli’ get recorded in a single take—and it was well received by everyone.”

He emphasized that a film song is not just about singing—it is the collective vision of the director, singer, lyricist, and composer. “Usually, the music and lyrics go through multiple changes, but this time everything just flowed naturally.”

Ravi Tripathi’s musical journey is not new. He has sung in films like Geet Nagendra Haraya Trilochanaya, Shirdi Ke Sai Baba – Om Jai Sai Ram, Baghpat, and Chandni Chowk to China. Additionally, he has performed in hundreds of live shows both in India and abroad. Notably, he holds the record for performing the highest number of live shows in China.

Ravi has sung in multiple languages, including Hindi, Chinese, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, and Bhojpuri. His music journey reflects diversity and dedication. He has trained under legendary figures like Suresh Wadkar and Ravindra Jain, and considers greats like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, and Suresh Wadkar as his inspirations.

Coming from Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, Ravi had no familial ties to films or music. Initially, his father didn’t understand his passion for music. But one day he said, “We come from a respectable family, never tarnish our image.” Those words became a lifelong resolution for Ravi.

After moving to Mumbai, Ravi not only trained in singing under Suresh Wadkar but also imbibed life values. He lived for a long time at Wadkar’s Aajivasan residence in Juhu, which he considers his second home. There, he had the opportunity to meet and learn from many legendary singers, musicians, and artists.

Ravi Tripathi’s musical journey is a testament to the fact that with dedication, devotion, and discipline, even the toughest paths become achievable. Through Sant Tukaram, his new avatar as a music director has already begun to cast a spell on audiences and music lovers alike.
